Finding Balance With Your Masculine and Feminine Energy

In today’s world, finding the right balance between our masculine and feminine sides is becoming increasingly difficult.

Unfortunately, the drive to become more independent, more powerful, and more prominent often comes at the sacrifice of feminine qualities. Instead of finding a healthy middle ground while being authentic to ourselves, we move out of alignment and disintegrate.

Therefore, we lose touch with the wisdom of spirituality and rather salute the left-brained scientific approach. Instead of being in touch with feelings or valuing intuition, we replace these feminine qualities with a drive to endlessly work and achieve.

To live a wholesome life, you need to find a balance between your masculine and feminine energy, rather than suppressing one or the other.

This will set a much stronger foundation to live as an integrated individual who is in alignment with these two different, but equally valuable energies.

If you’re not sure what masculine and feminine energies are, start with the article I wrote below:

Why we need integration

We live in an age where many women are abandoning their femininity to become more like men. Likewise, many men are abandoning their masculinity to become more feminine.

But we’re missing the mark because these people are suppressing a side of themselves rather than integrating these two distinct energies.

Therefore, we blotch ourselves in an attempt to meet the expectations imposed by the ideals of a masculine-minded society.

As each person needs to engage both their masculine energy and feminine energy to live a fulfilling life, it’s necessary to find a balance between them.

We’re reaching a point where the pendulum is at the cusp. Integrating the divine feminine is needed more than ever to return balance to an increasingly toxic society — And each person in it.

You can learn more about divine masculine and feminine energies on a collective level in the article below:

Why integration is necessary

Although most people have a dominant energy, everyone can tap into both their masculine and feminine energy, like drawing water from a well.

If you suppress your feminine side, you’re omitting all the qualities that correspond with feminine energy such as intuition, empathy, and emotional intelligence. If you neglect your masculine side, you won’t develop traits associated with masculine energy.

Each energy has strengths and weaknesses, which is why it’s important to find a balance that works for you. That’s why the integration of both masculine and feminine energy is key to wholeness and fulfillment.

Let’s explore what a healthy balance of masculine and feminine energy looks like:

Healthy masculinity

Healthy masculinity is a balanced level of masculine energy. This is where you embody the positive traits associated with masculine energy, but these traits are balanced with feminine traits.

When there’s a healthy balance of masculine and feminine energy, men are strong, driven, and protective, but also in touch with their emotions.

Balanced men are in touch with spirit. They are caring, generous, compassionate, and loving. The feminine energy gives their drive meaning — Rather than being driven by meaningless pursuits such as greed or status.

Health masculinity is:

  • Assertive
  • Protective
  • Driven
  • Ambitious
  • Rational

Toxic masculinity

Without a counterbalance, masculine energy can be self-destructive, aggressive, and domineering.

A disproportionate level of masculine energy to feminine energy leads to many of the problems we have today — Including oppression, destruction, and warfare.

Without the divine feminine, the masculine has no leash. It mutates into a destructive monster that prioritizes growth and expansion over empathy and compassion.

Toxic masculinity is:

  • Aggressive
  • Suppressive
  • Controlling
  • Egocentric
  • Greedy

Empowered femininity

Empowered femininity is a balanced level of feminine energy that is no suppressed by masculine energy, but supported by it.

When there’s a healthy balance of feminine energy, women are gentle, intuitive, and caring, but there’s also a fire inside. There’s a desire to grow, change, and create.

An empowered woman is a force to be reckoned with — One who nourishes everything she touches and is deeply in touch with spirit, but also independent and powerful.

Empowered femininity is:

  • Compassionate
  • Gentle
  • Caring
  • Empathetic
  • Intuitive

Disempowered femininity

Disempowered femininity is a disproportionate balance of feminine energy to masculine energy. This is where there is no masculine energy to assert the feminine constructs.

The divine feminine is the input, meaning it has no way to assert itself without masculine energy evolved in the equation.

Without masculine energy to support the feminine energy, there would be no propeller. Stagnation would occur as there would be minimal growth without the masculine counterpart to assist it.

Disempowered femininity is:

  • Subservient
  • Powerless
  • Compliant
  • Obedient
  • Timid

Imbalances of masculine and feminine energy

Integrating your masculine and feminine energy allows you to have the best of both worlds by knowing when to step into your feminine, and when to step into your masculine. There is usually a dominant energy and supportive energy, and you can shift between them, depending on what is needed.

If you’re helping someone or being supportive in some way, you may shift into your feminine to tap into the compassion and care of feminine energy.

When you’re working towards a goal or trying to achieve something specific, you may step into your masculine to channel that forward momentum, and become more confident and assertive.

Balancing these energies within yourself contributes to harmonious relationships with other people, and a sense of wholeness in oneself.

Rationality and intuition work together to make well-rounded decisions. Rather than being ruthless in the pursuit, ambition is contrasted with gentleness and care. Masculine energy and feminine energy complement one another, and when you’re in touch with both of them, you feel more complete.

Here are some ways you can nurture both masculine and feminine energy.

Nurturing feminine energy

To align more with your feminine side, the dynamic needs to change from outward to inward.

Prioritize and adopt more traits and characteristics associated with feminine energy, while transitioning away from traits that are associated with masculine energy.

Here are some ways you can nurture your feminine side:

  • Practice spiritual disciplines: Practices such as meditation and yoga are feminine as they work with being, and help people connect with spirit.
  • Get into your body: Get out of your mind and into your body through acts such as movement, dance, singing, art, and writing.
  • Slow down: Stop rushing around, planning, organizing, and always being on the on switch. Learn to slow down and smell the roses.
  • Stop trying to control: It’s important to stop trying to control everything in your life. Allowing yourself to let go and surrender to the universe helps you tap into feminine energy.
  • Learn to rely on trust and faith: Cultivate a deeper sense of faith, and trust in the universe to provide.
  • Tap into your intuition: Learn to tap into your inner knowing and gut instinct, rather than solely relying on logic and reason.
  • Spend a lot of time in reflection: As feminine energy is inward-oriented, people in their feminine tend to spend a lot of time thinking, reflecting, and introspecting — Often leading to greater self-awareness and personal growth.
  • Stop trying to be someone: Racing to the top of the status hierarchy is a masculine pursuit. Being in your feminine is to be at peace with who you are, and to realize you are everything you need.
  • Prioritize heart-based values: Shift your focus towards heart-centered values such as compassion, love, and generosity rather than mind-based values such as financial success and achievement.
  • Create: Nurture your creative side by creating music, art, poetry, and literature.
  • Connect more deeply with the natural world: Mother nature is feminine. The more time spend in nature soaking up the elements, the easier it will be to embody your femininity.

Nurturing masculine energy

To align more with your masculine side, the dynamic needs to change from inwards to outwards.

Start by embodying more characteristics that are associated with masculinity and transitioning away from traits that are associated with feminine energy.

Here are some ways you can nurture your masculine side:

  • Take a proactive stance towards life: Realize that life is a manifestation of your making, and actively pursue your goals and ambitions to create a better life for yourself and the people you care about.
  • Fight for what you love: Embody a mission in life, and devote your life to that cause. This will not only give you something to fight for, but it will help you find purpose.
  • Take more control: Identify what is within your realm of control, and start moving the pieces to progress your life, or other people’s lives forward.
  • Get physically active: Do more activities that boost your testosterone levels such as going to the gym, playing sports, and taking some calculated risks.
  • Cultivate your leadership abilities: Aim to be a leader in some area of your life, and become as independent as you can. Become a leader in your career, a thought leader, a leader in your family — And take control of the situation.
  • Prioritize independence over interdependence: Spend more energy on providing for yourself and other people, while relying on your skills and abilities to survive.
  • Become more ambitious: Push towards your goals and avocations with force by making them the cornerstone of your life.
  • Become solution-oriented: Instead of focusing on what’s wrong, focus on solutions and how you can bring about a practical solution to the situation.
  • Set boundaries: Know what you’re fine with, and what you aren’t. Learn to assert your boundaries, and take action when they’re crossed.

Integrating your masculine and feminine energies

By acknowledging the presence of both energies within yourself, you open the door to a more balanced self-expression.

You can’t necessarily be very masculine and very feminine at the same time. If you’re in your masculine, you tend to drop out of your feminine. If you’re in your feminine, you tend to drop out of your masculine.

Therefore, know when it’s time to engage your masculine, and when it’s time to engage your feminine.

When you’re at a point in your life where you feel it’s time to get shit done — To be inspired, to become an unstoppable force, engage the masculine. Channel the energy of the warrior, and use it to drive you towards your destination.

When you’re hurting and need to heal, recover, reflect — Engage the feminine. If you’re in a supportive role, tap into your feminine energy to support and heal.

Therefore, life should be a dance.

Knowing how to tap into your masculine and feminine makes you a powerful, whole person. Start finding a balance in your life, and leverage these energies for different purposes.
